Gloriana Orlando è nata a Catania dove vive e insegna Lettere al liceo. Ha al suo attivo un romanzo storico, Profumo di papaveri (2000), due raccolte di racconti Oniricon (2002) e Nemesis (2007) e un romanzo epistolare Quizás quizás quizás (2010). Ha pubblicato anche un saggio su Italo Calvino La ricerca di una via d’uscita dallo sgomento di vivere (2007) e le schede di due poetesse del Settecento per il Dizionario Biografico Siciliane (2006). Collabora con la rivista letteraria “Terza pagina” e fa parte del comitato scientifico della rivista “Cultura e dintorni”.
